Pilgrimage IN VIA 2010
The Way of St. James is a major Christian pilgrimage route, which has existed for over a thousand years. Today it is one of three most important Christian pilgrimage routes (two others lead to Rome and Jerusalem). Tens of thousands modern pilgrims walk for weeks or months to reach their destination - the city of Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain. They can follow many routes.
In our case the 4300 km path from Vilnius passes through historic cities and villages, valeys and fields of seven countries. Every day as a challenge, in total approximately 200 days. Lithuanian pilgrim Jokubas (James) is a professional theatre man, and he will make a film on pilgrimage.
More than 100,000 pilgrims from over 100 countries meet in the city where holy relics of St. James are buried. Whenever July 25 falls on a Sunday; a Holy Compostellan Year is announced, like the year 2010.
