The most noteworthy fact about places of interest of the Siauliai district is the Hill of Crosses. Numerous pilgrims and tourists drawn here some by faith, others by curiosity towards the sacred place which could not be beaten even by Soviet restrictions. The tilting crosses, small and large, first erected as far back as the 19th century, turned the place into a symbol of spiritual resistance in soviet times.
